KnightlingsPrivacy policy
Knightlings is a game by Hernas OÜ (registered in Estonia, VAT EE101929365), Kentmanni 4, 10116 Tallinn, Estonia (“we”). This policy says what we keep about you, why, and how to have it deleted.
Who can play
Knightlings is for players 13 and older. When you make an account we ask for your birth year once. We keep only the year, never the date, and we use it for two things: to refuse an account to anyone under 13, and to open typed chat at 16.
If we refuse an account because of age, we keep a one-way hash of the email address (or the Apple or Google account) and of the device for 30 days, so the same device cannot simply try again. We do not keep the year or the address itself.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address, or the stable id Apple or Google gives us, and the email they share if you allow it (Apple may give a private relay address). We never see your Apple or Google password.
- Your birth year (see above).
- Your knightlings: names, looks, progress, items, plots and everything you do in the game.
- Sign-in sessions: a hashed token per device, the device name your phone reports, and when it was last used, so you can sign other devices out in Settings.
- Chat: we do not store chat. If you report someone, the report holds the last lines you saw from them, so a moderator can look at it.
- Reports and moderation decisions, including any mute or suspension.
- Push notifications: if you turn them on, your device’s push token and which kinds you want.
- Network data: your IP address, used only in memory to limit abuse (too many codes or sign-ins), and in our server logs for 30 days.
Who processes it
- Our servers (hosted by Scaleway in the EU: Poland and the Netherlands).
- Mailgun sends the sign-in codes and account emails.
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, push notifications) and Google (Sign in with Google, Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android push), only if you use them.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Keeping and deleting
You can delete your account in the game: Settings → Delete account (or the character list). We ask you to type DELETE and enter a fresh code from your email. Your account, knightlings, sessions and settings are deleted at once, and we tell Apple or Google to forget the sign-in. A moderation record (for example a ban) is kept without your name or email, so a deleted account cannot be used to dodge it. Reports you filed lose your note and chat lines.
Accounts nobody signs into for 3 years are deleted.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it: write to privacy@knightlings.com. If you are in the EU or the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we say so in the game before the change takes effect.
